CHAPTER V. BUSINESS REGULATIONSCHAPTER V. BUSINESS REGULATIONS\ARTICLE 2. LICENSE AND FEE REQUIREMENTS

No person, firm or corporation, either as principal, agent, or employee, shall conduct or pursue in this city any occupation, business or profession hereinafter enumerated without first paying to the City Clerk the license fee hereinafter provided in this article and provide the City Clerk with copies of the bond and insurance as hereinafter provided.

The amount of the license fees shall be paid to the City Clerk who shall, upon payment thereof, issue said license. All licenses shall be signed by the City Clerk who shall affix the corporate seal of the city thereto.

No license shall be assignable or transferable and no refunds shall be made for any unused period of a license.

All licenses shall be issued for a term of one (1) year from the first day of January.

The following occupations are required to be license and shall pay the following fees:

(a)   Plumber                                      $25.00

(b)   Electrician                                  $25.00

(c)   Building Contractor                  $25.00

All occupations required to be license in section 5-205 shall be bonded in an amount of at least five thousand dollars ($5000.00). Such bond shall be approved by the mayor as to form and by the city council as to surety and shall be conditioned that the principal therein will save the city free and harmless from all damages to all persons or property resulting from his or her negligence of his or her agents or employees and further conditioned that he or she will restore all streets, alleys and sidewalks to the condition existing before the commencement of any work and that he or she will maintain said streets, alleys and sidewalks in such condition for six (6) months subsequent to the completion of such work. No bond for the purpose of this article shall run for a longer period of time than one (1) year and said bond shall remain in full force and effect as to any piece of work or excavation for six (6) months after the same has been completed: Provided, that no such bond may be extended by a renewal certificate but a new bond shall be given to the city in every case where an existing bond expires.

All occupations required to be license in section 5-205 shall maintain liability insurance in an amount sufficient to protect the public a copy of said insurance policy shall be filed with the city clerk.

Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this article shall, upon conviction thereof, be fined in any sum not exceeding one hundred dollars ($100.00), or be imprisoned for not more than thirty (30) days, or be both so fined and imprisoned.
